TARU - Arts and Diversity
TARU–project is a three year project funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) working under the theme of employment. TARU’s beneficiaries are immigrant, disabled and young artists, who have just graduated or are still studying. Through artist coucelling and employment services, the project aims to achieve employment possibilities for these artists. The project introduces them in the weekly TARU-TV and in the artist register on the project's web pages. TARU also provides artist training.

Every beneficiary group has its own producer who is helping and giving advices to the

artists in productive matters. Ismo Helén and Soile Englund works part-timely with disabled artists. The producer for the immigrant artists is Petr ”Petja” Potchinchtchikov and for young artists Raisa Niemi. The project is coordinated by project manager Tuomas Kylänpää. The artists can contact the personnel by phone and e-mail, or make an appointment to the TARU office.

TARU producers will map out the beneficiary artists, artist organizations and other actors closely linked to the beneficiaries. During this process it will be determined, what kind of services and training artists need for a better chance for employment. Based on this, TARU will develop its activities, educational and guidance services. The first major education is held in the beginning of 2006. TARU also maintains an artist register.

TARU improves beneficiaries productive skills through advising and training. The project helps to actualize artistic productions offering counselling about marketing and merchandizing. TARU producers will make contacts to different instances, for example festivals and companies, and offer them TARU artists. TARU does not take part in the productional expenses or neither give financial support to the artists. TARU gives advices where and how different financial support for carrying out artistic activity can be applied. TARU gives the artists the means to employ and market themselves.
